Back in March when we made the decision to visit
Fessi and Sylvia in Switzerland, little did we know what a profound experience
it would be. Not just a vacation, but in reality the trip of a lifetime.
A trip that we can't wait to repeat.
The preparation that went into the actual trip was an
experience in and of itself. Remember, we travel almost exclusively
by motorcycle and Samsonite luggage doesn't fit too well on the back of
an Electra Glide, so the first order of business was to find luggage that
would fit all the STUFF we had to take with us. Not only that, but
the STUFF we would probably bring back.
As it turned out, our fears of not having enough
room to get leathers, helmets, clothes and all the things that we just
new we wouldn't be able to find in a foreign country were unfounded.
We even had more than enough room to bring back all the treasures that
we found in our travels around Switzerland and neighboring countries.

With our bags packed and Shawn given her last admonishment
to BE GOOD while we were away, we loaded up the truck and headed off to
Vegas to begin our trek half way around the world to a place where an antique
is something that is not an antique unless it's at least 500 years old!!
Below you will find links to different pages telling about
this experience, photos of some of the places we visited and observations
about things that these first time European travelers learned about the
people and places that very few of us in the United States ever get to
visit.

As you will see there are many, many pictures on
these pages, have patience while the pages load, we think that the wait
will be worth it. Most pictures will be linked to a page that explains
where it was taken and hopefully a little bit about the area itself, feel
free to click on the photos to view these pages. There will be a
link on all photo pages that will return you to the previous page.
The links at the top and bottom of this page each contain
a link to the next page in order and a link back to this page. This
web site is primarily set up to share our trip with you, we hope you enjoy
the stories and the photos, we had fun experiencing them first hand.

At this point I would like to throw in some observations.
The United States has some truly awesome sights. The problem is most
of us, including myself have become immune to these wonders. We see
or hear of them on a daily basis. By traveling over eight thousand
miles to a foreign country it is very easy to succumb to culture shock.
It makes it easy to forget how beautiful the USA
really is. Although no one will ever convince Teri and I that the
desert is one of those places. Having said that, keep in mind as
you read these pages that as wonderful as we found Switzerland to be, it
is not someplace that Americans would find easy to live. There are
many things that make a lot more sense than the way things are done in
the United States, remember we've only been at it for a little over two
hundred years, the Swiss have had a lot more practice.
